If our future electronic gadget preparation is focusing towards the 2010 launch of 3D TV, then the first link in the chain to take advantage of 3D TV is home video recording. Whether capturing a sporting event, making a 3D TV program for national television or making films and documentaries, it is currently possible to use two separate cameras, each positioned so as to reflect the vision of each eye. Panasonic, however, intends to go much further with the introduction of the first 3D full HD professional camera, integrated in one box to include everything that is needed to capture 3D Film.

Available in the fall of 2010, this registration system will use flash memory to capture 3D Full HD video content. The optics, the objective and the dual registration memory system are integrated directly into a single box. The left and right video stream for the 3D optical glasses can be saved as files on SDHC / SD memory cards.

This 3D TV camera also includes adjustment control for stereo operation and can also be used in basic mode. The optical system adopted by Panasonic lets you adjust the point of convergence and provides editing functions, automatic horizontal and vertical displacements. The focal point is where the optical axes of left and right goals of the camera come together to produce a 3D image.

To capture a natural 3D image, the point of convergence must be adjusted to match the human eyes, which varies depending on the proximity of objects viewed. Conventional 3D systems require that these adjustments are made via a PC or an external video processor. The new Panasonic camera offers automatic calibration which will be done without using any external equipment, and thus allow immediate capture of 3D images with minimal equipment.

The advertised price is $ 21 000 for the main unit. It weighs less than 3kg, and consumes less than 19 W of power during ful operation. In addition to this camera, Panasonic also plans to offer a full HD 3D LCD monitor for professional use in the field and in addition will offer a mixer audio / video digital HD production of live events. Panasonic will also offer a range of production equipment to enable video professionals to efficiently create 3D content and allow the general public to benefit from the long awaited 3D TV content when 3D TVs start hitting our homes.
